ZS, MKB Architects, and CD Smith complete Milwaukee St. Francis of Assisi Parish Restoration St. Francis of Assisi In 2020, construction began at the St. Francis of Assisi Parish and the Capuchin Franciscan of St. Joseph restoration project in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  The design team was led by McBride, Kelly, Baurer Architects and the construction team was led by CD Smith.  ZS joined the team as the Building Enclosure and Structural Restoration Consultant.  The first phase of the project included a 30,000 square-foot renovation of the 145-year-old St. Francis Monastery, and the second phase included a 16,000 square-foot addition on the St…

ZS continues Fall Protection System Installation at Komatsu North American Headquarters ZS was selected by Komatsu and Hunzinger Construction to provide roof access and fall protection design-build services for Komatsu’s new North American headquarters in Milwaukee’s Harbor District.  The currently under construction headquarters includes 176,000 square feet of offices and 430,000 square feet of manufacturing space. ZS designed and is currently overseeing the installation of an engineered fall restraint system that will allow safe and OSHA compliant roof maintenance access at the new headquarters.   The engineered system will utilize over 150 engineered fall restraint anchors and almost a mile of..

ZS Awarded Milwaukee General Mitchell International Airport Project Milwaukee County Department of Administrative Services awarded ZS a contract to perform structural engineering services to rehabilitate the stair towers of the parking structure at General Mitchell International Airport (GMIA) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The scope includes structural assessment, preparation of repair construction bid documents, and construction oversight for the structural repairs and rehabilitation. The GMIA parking structure was completed in three phases with the original structure being constructed in 1977, followed by a west addition in 1989 and a north addition in 2002. ZS Continues Building Enclosure Restoration at the University of Chicago’s Oriental Institute Museum The Oriental Institute is the University of Chicago’s interdisciplinary research organization for ancient Near Eastern studies, and archeology museum, designed by the late Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue, and opened to the public in 1931. After over eighty years of stress on the building enclosure,  the University of Chicago selected ZS to design and oversee multi-phase construction for a complete exterior façade rehabilitation.  Repair work started in the summer of 2017 and was performed while the building was occupied and functional.
