2024 – What a Year!
Before we jump into 2025, let’s look back at the most memorable ZS projects of 2024 and see what we achieved together. Plus a big announcement!

Associated Bank
River Center
MILWAUKEE, WI

The Associated Bank River Center, a landmark in Milwaukee’s skyline, has undergone major exterior renovations over the past three years. ZS contributed to installing a new fall protection system for window washing, facade maintenance, lighting access, flagpole access, and rehabilitating the spire glazing system. Principal and Senior Building Scientist Andy Martin described engineering, overseeing installation, and certifying enhanced fall protection systems as a standout achievement for ZS.

Northwestern Mutual
North Office
MILWAUKEE, WI

Northwestern Mutual is renovating its 18-story, 540,000-square-foot North Office Building (NOB) in Milwaukee for $500 million, set to complete by 2027. ZS structural engineers are providing crane foundation design, wall adjustments, and structural updates, while collaborating with RJC on building enclosure consulting. The granite facade will be replaced with a modern glass curtain wall, complementing the nearby Tower and Commons complex. ZS is also conducting vibration monitoring, laser scanning, and drone inspections throughout construction.

SC Johnson & Son
Council House
RACINE, WI

ZS was engaged by SC Johnson & Son to conduct a comprehensive building enclosure assessment and restoration of the historic Council House in Racine, Wisconsin. Built in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Council House is an iconic architectural conference center for SC Johnson. ZS Building Enclosure Group Director Greg Kempen stated “The exterior enclosure restoration in conjunction with energy efficiency upgrades will extend the life of this architectural gem for future generations of SC Johnson employees and the community to enjoy.”

University of Chicago
Chapin Hall
CHICAGO, IL

The University of Chicago engaged ZS to conduct a detailed hands-on evaluation of Chapin Hall’s limestone facades, assessing their condition and preparing rehabilitation construction documents. ZS also evaluated the existing roofs and the retaining walls along the north and east facades. ZS Principal-In-Charge Ziad Salameh remarked “We are honored to be an integral part of the University of Chicago’s dedicated effort to preserve and maintain the structures on their beautiful and historic campus.”

WE’RE MOVING TO A NEW HOME!

After 15 years in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, we are relocating to the historic Summit Place building in nearby West Allis. A prime example of urban adaptive reuse, Summit Place was developed by the Whitnall-Summit Company on the former Allis Chalmers Campus. Our new office will support our growth and enable us to continue delivering the high-quality engineering and architectural services ZS is known for.

Thank you for your trust and support over the past year. We are extremely proud of all of the projects we have worked on in 2024, big and small.

We hope you have a wonderful new year and a prosperous 2025!
