What a Year!

Before we jump into 2023, let’s look back at the most memorable ZS projects of 2022 and see what we achieved together.

    MILWAUKEE TOOL DOWNTOWN OFFICE

    MILWAUKEE, WI

This year Milwaukee Tool began welcoming employees to its new downtown office on West Michigan Street. The long-vacant building includes 350,000 square-feet of newly renovated space for Milwaukee Tool.

ZS was retained by Milwaukee Tool, Stephen Perry Smith Architects, and Mortenson Construction for multiple professional services including Building Enclosure Consulting, Testing, and Structural Engineering throughout the course of the renovation project.  ZS also served as the Structural Engineer of Record for the restoration of the parking structure.

    THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO

    CHICAGO, IL

The University of Chicago retained ZS for Building Enclosure Consulting to design historic facade restorations for Kent Chemical Laboratory (built in 1894), Bond Chapel (built in 1926), and Rosenwald Hall (built in 1915). The buildings are all located on the Hyde Park campus, and will be included in a multi-year restoration project estimated to begin in 2023.

    WISCONSIN CENTER DISTRICT EXPANSION

    MILWAUKEE, WI

Gilbane Smith retained ZS for multiple Structural Engineering Services for the Wisconsin Center expansion project. The $456 million Wisconsin Center expansion will bring the exposition hall to 300,000 contiguous square-feet, anticipated to open in May 2024.

    1155 E 60th STREET

    CHICAGO, IL

ZS was retained by the University of Chicago to perform Building Enclosure Consulting Services for a roof replacement project at 1155 East 60th Street, a multi-building complex, that was built in stages between 1955 and 1993.

ZS designed a multi-phase roof replacement for the building and will supervise construction of the project expected to begin in 2023.

    JONES ISLAND WATER RECLAMATION FACILITY

    MILWAUKEE, WI

ZS was retained by the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) to perform BIM documentation for buildings located at the Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility.

ZS performed 3D laser scanning on multiple buildings to collect point cloud data to create a digital twin of the existing buildings and the complex equipment inside to greatly improve efficiency for future projects.

    KOMATSU HARBOR DISTRICT CORPORATE CAMPUS

    MILWAUKEE, WI

Komatsu Mining Corp. celebrated the completion of its $285 million South Harbor Campus this year, that includes the company’s headquarters and manufacturing facility.

Hunzinger Construction Company retained ZS for Fall Protection Design, Installation, and Certification Services for the new 58-acre Harbor District Corporate Campus.
